Calling All Men to Be Knights of Columbus

This week, we would like to focus on calling men to be Knights of Columbus.  Imagine being part of an organization that fills your heart and your mind with the joy of giving to others and the feeling that comes with making a difference.

Knights are Catholic men, 18 years of age and older, who are committed to making their community a better place, while supporting their Church. Being a Knight is more than camaraderie; it is being involved with the community; it is supporting St. Mary’s, while enhancing one’s own faith; it is about protecting and enhancing one’s own family life.  Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open to men who are practical (that is, practicing) Catholics in union with the Holy See. This means that an applicant or member accepts the teaching authority of the Catholic Church on matters of faith and morals, aspires to live in accord with the precepts of the Catholic Church, and is in good standing in the Catholic Church.

Today, many Catholics are searching for ways to further develop a personal ministry within our Church.  If these good intentions are going to bear fruit, if the Church is going to not only exist, but thrive in today’s society, men throughout our communities must come forward and take an active part.  The lay apostolate must respond to the constant call for active involvement in the work of the Church; this is one of the true ends of Vatican Council II.

Our Council (8592) has the organization, and ability to get involved and spread the word throughout the Catholic Church in Iowa, to appeal for better Catechesis among ecclesial communions, to be ecumenical with the Orthodox, and to evangelize among all non-Christian religions.  We just need to continue to bolster our numbers.

We cannot do this without you.  We need your help.  We need you to consider becoming a Knight.  You can contact Tony Luft, Dick Danielson, or any Knight for further information, including myself.  You can find our email addresses on our website by clicking our names in the officers tab.  The commitment is small, the reward is great!  Please stand up and be counted in a brotherhood which will last a lifetime! Please look to our website, www.humboldtkofc.org   May God keep you close.
